Belfast City Council and Translink are urging everyone to plan ahead and leave extra time for journeys during the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann from 2-9 August, with more than 800,000 people expected. A large area of the city centre will be pedestrianised to create a safe and welcoming festival zone, with road closures and diversions from 5am on 2 August until 7am on 10 August. Motorists are advised not to drive into the city centre.
Three official Fleadh Park and Ride sites will operate at Eikon Exhibition Centre, Giant’s Park and Belfast Harbour Estate, with frequent shuttle buses running every 10 minutes at peak times. All Metro, Glider, Ulsterbus and train services will operate with enhanced capacity and frequency. Additional late-night bus and rail services will be in place on 2 August and from 6-9 August.
Dedicated parking for Blue Badge holders will be available at Dunbar Street and Winetavern Street on a first-come, first-served basis. Secure cycle parking is available at CastleCourt. Taxis will operate with dedicated pick-up and drop-off locations around the event zone. Belfast City Council recommends walking as the best way to get around the compact city centre.
