Biman Bangladesh Airlines has signed a firm order for 10 latest-generation Airbus aircraft. The order includes four A350-900 widebody and six A321neo single-aisle aircraft, marking a step in the airline’s fleet modernisation strategy and its ambition to expand its international network. Operating from its primary hub in Dhaka, the airline will leverage the aircraft’s range, efficiency and operating economics to strengthen its network.

The aircraft will support Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ plans to serve North America, along with key destinations across Europe and the Middle East. Bangladesh is experiencing a demographic dividend that reinforces its medium-term economic trajectory. This economic momentum directly catalyses demand across the aviation industry. A vast overseas diaspora, particularly across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, continues to maintain high baseline demand for international routes, while growing foreign trade drives commercial air cargo needs.

The A350 is the world’s most modern widebody aircraft, designed to fly up to 9,700 nautical miles or 18,000 kilometres non-stop. Its latest generation Rolls-Royce engines and use of lightweight materials bring a 25pc advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and carbon dioxide emissions compared to previous generation competitor aircraft. The A321neo, the largest member of Airbus’ A320neo Family, offers segment-leading operating economics and extended range. Compared with previous-generation aircraft, the A321neo delivers a reduction in fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions of at least 20pc.

Rumee A. Hossain shared “Bangladesh is a dynamic nation of 200 million people, backed by a resilient economy and a rapidly growing travel market. We are uniquely supported by a deeply connected global diaspora of 15 million people. In this context, our planned fleet expansion represents a measured and reasonable ambition.”
