The Centre for Asia and Pacific Aviation world leaders summit opens today in Lisbon. For the first time the Air Transport World awards wil coincide with the event.
The CAPA Airline Leader Summit World commenced at the Centro de Congressos de Lisboa today, drawing airline executives, regulators, and analysts for a two-day review of the aviation sector’s performance.
Organisers from CAPA Centre for Aviation integrated the event with the ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards and GAD World forum, the first combined gathering of these platforms under one roof. Delegates will discuss successes and failures from 2025, including supply chain disruptions, fuel price fluctuations, and regulatory shifts across regions.
Agendas for panel discussions include geopolitical tensions and economic slowdowns that influenced route networks and fleet strategies. The agenda featured interviews with chief executives from carriers in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, alongside presentations on market intelligence drawn from CAPA’s global data.
Networking sessions will connect 500 attendees, with discussions on 2026 forecasts emphasising capacity constraints and sustainability mandates. The summit concludes tomorrow with the Awards for Excellence gala dinner, where recipients will receive recognition for contributions to innovation and operational resilience.
CAPA’s content director Marco Navarria will open proceedings by outlining the event’s role in equipping leaders for the year ahead.
The forum follows CAPA’s series of regional summits held throughout 2025 in locations from Sydney to Bogota, each analysing local market dynamics. Participants utilising the venue’s facilities for side meetings with suppliers and investors, while digital streams reached remote audiences via the CAPA platform. The event aligns with Lisbon’s position as a growing aviation hub, supported by recent expansions at Humberto Delgado Airport.
