Cork Opera House has extended the run of The Sound of Music due to demand. Extra dates run until 23 August 2026 and tickets cost €37.50 €40 €45 €47.50 and €50. The production opens on 23 July 2026 and now totals 37 performances.

Davey Kelleher directs the show that features Wendy Carr as Maria Rainer Matt Blaker as Captain von Trapp and Majella Cullagh as Mother Abbess. It includes a professional ensemble an emerging artist ensemble from Cork School of Music and junior performers as the von Trapp children. The cast numbers 45 with a 16-piece orchestra and over 100 crew.

Cork Opera House schedules a relaxed performance on 18 August 2026 for autistic people and those with sensory differences. An ISL interpreted performance takes place on 8 August 2026. The production represents the largest scale in-house musical at the venue.

Eibhlín Gleeson shared “We are thrilled to add another week to the run. I am really delighted that we have the opportunity to present a relaxed performance of this show for this community.”
