Dublin City Council has named Dolphin House Community Garden as the overall winner of the Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards 2026. The announcement has recognised residents and volunteers who transformed an unused gravel pitch into a community space. The awards ceremony took place at the Round Room, The Mansion House on Saturday night.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Daryl Barron presented the winners with their award and a total prize fund of €4,500. Dolphin House Community Garden received commendation from judges for transforming a derelict site that had attracted anti-social behaviour into a thriving community space. The Meeting Place at Greenview Community Garden in Dublin 11 received the overall runners-up award and a total prize of €3,500.

Wink Hair Salon on St. Assam’s Road, Dublin 5 won the Overall Business Category and received an award and a prize of €1,000. The salon operates as a sustainability-led organic hair salon. The Lord Mayor congratulated all winners and participants for their dedication to making Dublin a greener and more inclusive city.

Sinéad Mooney and Aideen O’Brien, organisers of Dublin City Council’s Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards, shared “We’ve met such wonderful and passionate people along the way who are so committed to their city. The annual awards are all about recognising, in a meaningful way, the improvements made through the hundreds of hours of voluntary work carried out by people across Dublin.”
