Dublin Airport is issuing its usual get there early warning as almost 368,000 passengers are expected to travel this Easter Bank Holiday Weekend from today, Good Friday, until Easter Monday.
It’s tipping a 10pc rise in numbers on last year and DAA spokeswoman Siobhán O’Donnell believes it might be down to the recent snow and storms in the east of the country.
“The recent cold weather spells may have been a a contributory factor in the double-digit increase in passengers travelling this Easter when compared to last year,” said Ms O’Donnell. “The Canary Islands and Spanish coastal resorts the most popular sunshine destinations this Easter for passengers in search of some much needed warm weather.”

More than 3.8m passengers have used Dublin Airport in the first two months of this year, which is a 5pc increase on the first two months of last year. This summer the airport will have flights to 195 destinations in 42 countries, operated by 56 airlines.
Dublin Airport has the following advice for passengers travelling over the weekend:
- Passengers are advised to check which terminal their flight is departing from before leaving home. Aer Lingus, Emirates, Norwegian’s transatlantic services and all US carriers operate from Terminal 2, while all other airlines operate from Terminal 1.
- Passengers are advised to be in the terminal building at least 90 minutes before their flight departure time irrespective of whether they are checking in at the airport or have checked in on-line. A further 30 minutes should be factored in if passengers are using one of the long-term car parks.
- EU Aviation Security regulations concerning liquids over 100mls are still in place.
- Passengers are also advised to prepare for security screening in advance by removing laptops from cases, belts, outer jackets, umbrellas and sharp objects from hand luggage.
- Dublin Airport’s app provides information on a range of services through smart phone and hand-held devices. Real time flight information, security queue times and processing times through US CBP is there to help passengers travel through the airport seamlessly.
Dublin Airport will have Customer Care teams on duty across both terminals this Bank Holiday Weekend;.
