Dublin Bay Sea Safaris has launched guided boat tours from Greystones Harbour along the Wicklow and south Dublin coastline. The company operates two new rigid inflatable boats and provides commentary from the skipper during the trips. Tours depart from the marina and head north past Bray Head, Killiney Bay and the Kish Lighthouse.

Passengers view dramatic cliffs, rocky outcrops and islands including the Muglins near Dalkey while observing marine and birdlife such as seals and seabirds. The boats carry a maximum of 12 passengers and tours last around two hours. Bernard Flynn with a background in the fishing industry organises the experience and the company also runs tours from Dún Laoghaire.

Tickets cost €60 per person for ages 8 and over and include life jackets and waterproof suits.

Bernard Flynn shared “The skipper will be your guide as well as your driver. We slow down, point things out, and if people want to ask questions or discuss something, we make time for that. Bray Head is spectacular, particularly from the water. I’ve become fanatical about birds now in the last couple of weeks as well, having worked as a fisherman, it’s mostly head down, focusing on what you’re working on. I understand now why it’s a UNESCO biosphere. And you wouldn’t be aware of that when you’re walking around Greystones, that you’re so close to such an amazing natural phenomenon and feature.”
