Frontier Airlines is withdrawing completely from New York’s JFK Airport after a two-year presence, with its final flight scheduled for 5 October 2026. The Denver-based ultra-low-cost carrier is winding down its operations after a 26-month experiment at the major New York hub, citing high operational fees, airspace congestion and intense competition. Frontier had already eliminated nine of its ten JFK routes earlier this year, leaving a single daily service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Passengers holding reservations on cancelled Frontier flights out of JFK after the cutoff date are entitled to a full refund to their original form of payment. While Frontier is abandoning JFK, the budget airline is not leaving the New York metropolitan market entirely. Travellers can still book Frontier flights via LaGuardia Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport. Both airports will continue to host Frontier flights to primary leisure destinations like Atlanta, Orlando and Dallas/Fort Worth.
A spokesperson stated that Frontier may re-evaluate JFK if market economics improve in the future, though no return timeline is currently planned. In parallel, agents continue to manage client impacts from ongoing NATS air traffic control disruption, while the government has indicated it will consider consumer redress measures following the failure.
