The report identifies seven defining behavioural trends for 2027 trips:
- Currency Chasers: Driven by value, travellers are intentionally moving their bookings to destinations with positive foreign exchange rates. Roughly 45pc of Gen Z and 40pc of Millennials have swapped holiday spots to maximise their spending power.
- Grand Odysseys: Fuelled by cinematic epic releases (like Gladiator and The Odyssey), people are exploring ancient civilizations, sacred trails, and historical ruins to ground themselves in timeless stories.
- Signal Severance (Digital Detox): Swapping screen time for physical presence, 1 in 4 Gen Z travellers plan to completely disconnect, driving a spike in remote nature hotspots like Helsinki and Kittilä.
- Gym-cation: Fitness-first getaways are booming. 67pc of Millennials choose hotels based on high-performance nutritional breakfasts, while 40pc of Gen Z explicitly look for top-tier on-site gyms.
- Sound Bound: Music travel is shifting away from massive stadiums toward intimate settings, cultural carnivals, and unique festival backdrops like caves or pyramids.
- Pilgra-merch: Vacationers are dedicating itineraries to buying location-exclusive merchandise, artisanal crafts, or viral souvenirs.
- Sten Do Surge (or Multi-Mooning): Shared pre-wedding celebrations are becoming combined, budget-friendly “Sten Dos”. Couples are also leaning into “mini-moons” or multiple smaller romantic trips instead of one massive honeymoon
