Searches gs for holidays in Ireland are up by 33pc according to a survey of Europe’s most searched and booked destinations for 2026 according to a joint study by Amadeus Travel Intelligence and the UN Tourism agency. The searches are not followed through by bookings at the same level.
Spain has been ranked as Europe’s most searched-for and most booked destination for 2026 according to the joint study. Traditional Mediterranean and Western European powerhouses continue to lead the absolute volume of bookings, while Central and Northern European countries show the fastest year-on-year growth. Spain is on pace to welcome around 100m international visitors across the year.
The top 10 most booked destinations are Spain, Italy, France, England, Germany, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Portugal, Norway and Greece. Czechia ranks as the fastest-growing booked destination with 18pc year-on-year growth, followed by Iceland at 11pc and Denmark at 8pc. Uzbekistan and Tajikistan recorded the highest online search growth at 64pc each, while Switzerland and Sweden grew 36pc, Ireland 33pc, Belgium 32pc and Norway 31pc.
Japan represents Europe’s fastest-growing long-haul source market with a 62pc increase in searches and a 19pc rise in conversions, while the United States remains the largest total source of inbound visitors to the continent. Adults aged 46 to 65 are the primary drivers of tourism demand, accounting for approximately 30pc of all travel demand across European destinations.
