ITA Airways has reported its first full-year profit since launching operations while restoring service to London Heathrow. ITA has added 10 new aircraft in 2025 and retired three older models, ending the year with a fleet of 106 aircraft, including 24 widebodies. The airline will resume twice-daily flights between Rome Fiumicino and London Heathrow from 29 March 2026 after withdrawing from the airport in March 2024. Operating profit remained positive for a second consecutive year, rising to €25m.

The airline warned that high leasing costs linked to fleet modernisation continue to weigh on its finances. ITA has expanded its Summer 2026 schedule to 72 destinations and has introduced a new Rome to Houston service starting on 1 May 2026. The return to Heathrow has been enabled through cooperation with the Lufthansa Group.

Joerg Eberhart shared “This is the result of the commitment of the entire company and the first tangible effects of our industrial partnership with the Lufthansa Group. To achieve fully sustainable profitability, we must reduce the burden of fleet leasing costs. We are already working resolutely on this.”
