Jonathan Daniels appointed as director of PortMiami

Miami-Dade County has appointed Jonathan Daniels as director and chief executive officer of PortMiami. Daniels joins from the Maryland Port Administration and Port of Baltimore. He assumes duties on 10 August 2026 after serving in similar roles at Port Everglades.

The appointment follows the departure of previous director Hydi Webb in June 2026. Deputy Mayor Roy Coley acts as interim director from 1 July. Alissa Penaloza takes the position of deputy director with nearly two decades of public-sector experience.

Daniels brings over 30 years in cruise, cargo and energy operations management. The port addresses its fuel supply challenges during the leadership transition.
