Killester Travel has released details of its packages for the Rugby World Cup 2027, with Ireland’s campaign opening against Portugal at the Sydney Football Stadium on Monday 4 October 2027. The rebuilt 42,500-seat arena at Moore Park, minutes from Sydney’s CBD, will host Ireland’s pool opener, with the team having never reached a World Cup semi-final in ten previous attempts. Stadium Australia, with capacity around 82,000, will host both semi-finals on 5 and 6 November and the final on Saturday 14 November 2027.
The Sydney Football Stadium, rebuilt and opened in August 2022, features a wrap-around roof covering every seat and a steep rake that keeps fans close to the pitch. The venue will also stage three pool matches and two round-of-16 fixtures, making it a central location for the tournament’s early stages. Stadium Australia, built for the Sydney 2000 Olympics and host of the 2003 Rugby World Cup final, will host the knockout matches including matches involving Australia, New Zealand and England.
Killester Travel has designed guided tours and weekend packages for supporters travelling to Sydney, with excursions to the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Blue Mountains, ninety minutes west of Sydney, offer eucalyptus-hazed valleys and clifftop walks at Katoomba, while Hunter Valley, Australia’s oldest wine region, provides cellar-door tastings of Semillon and Shiraz. The company has also compiled restaurant and bar recommendations across Sydney neighbourhoods including Surry Hills, The Rocks and the CBD. Sydney in October averages 22 to 23 degrees Celsius with daylight saving beginning on the first Sunday, extending evenings to around 7.30pm.
