New York City hotels rank among the strongest in the United States for occupancy, room rates, and revenue, yet remain vulnerable because of lagging international tourism, according to a report by State Comptroller Thomas P DiNapoli.
In 2025 the city hosted 65m visitors, with 52.4 domestic travellers nearing full pre pandemic recovery. However, 12.5m international arrivals stood at only 96pc of 2019 levels and declined from 2024, affected by geopolitical issues and federal policies. A full rebound requires more international visitors and employment growth.
