Ryanair has systematically axed routes and completed or scheduled full exits from 13 airports across Europe and the Mediterranean since early 2026. The airline cited unsustainable airport charges and operating costs for the withdrawals. In Spain it left Vigo in January 2026 and Asturias in March 2026. In Portugal it left Ponta Delgada and Terceira in the Azores in March 2026. In Jordan it left Amman in March 2026.

In France it left Clermont-Ferrand in March 2026 and Rodez in August 2026. In Turkey it left Bodrum and Dalaman in October 2026. In Greece it left Kalamata and Volos in October 2026. In Serbia it left Niš in October 2026. In Germany it scheduled an exit from Bremen for March 2027.

Ryanair is also halving its operations at Berlin International Airport due to what it termed astronomical tax increases. The airline warned that it will continue to shift aircraft toward areas with pro-growth travel policies. It pledged a further $4bn (€3.68bn) national investment in Italy if the central government axes the municipal tax across all Italian airports.
