Shakira’s historic 12-concert European residency in Madrid is triggering a tourism boom across Spain, driving up hotel rates, triggering rail demand and filling up flights. Performing her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour at a custom-built 30-hectare themed venue called Macondo Park at the Iberdrola Music site in Villaverde, the artist is expected to draw over 600,000 spectators between 18 September and 11 October 2026. Average daily hotel rates have jumped to around €339 per night, a 20pc spike from last year’s average of €283.
Booking.com reported a 56pc surge in accommodation searches for Madrid during the residency dates with interest peaking over the final holiday weekend of 9 to 12 October where searches have skyrocketed by nearly 75pc. Despite the surge in interest the average length of stay has decreased from 2.1 to 1.7 nights with fans booking short hyper-focused weekend getaways designed around the concert dates. Domestic family searches on Booking.com have surged by 133pc.
Train travel to the capital has surged by 38pc overall with the Barcelona-Madrid corridor seeing passenger seat demand shoot up by 110pc. Ouigo launched promotional tickets from Barcelona to Madrid starting at around €19 while Ryanair added 225,000 extra flight seats to Madrid with promotional fares starting at around €29.99. Fans are booking accommodation an average of 122 days in advance up from 106 days last year. Madrid City Council has established a mobility plan with free shuttle buses to the Atocha transit hub and reinforced night services on Metro Lines 3 and 12.
