Spain handled 11.1m international air passengers in May, marking a .8pc increase compared with the same month last year. In the first five months of the year, the total reached 43.5m passengers, up 5.3pc on the previous year.
Catalonia led arrivals with twenty one per cent of the total, followed by Madrid and the Balearic Islands. Most regions posted gains, with notable double digit increases in Andalusia and Valencia.
