Thai Smile’s low-cost carrier operations ceased on December 31, 2023, with parent company Thai Airways International taking over its flights and finalising the merger of both operations.

Thai Smile deployed 20 A320-200s leased from Thai Airways on domestic and some regional flights for eleven years before Thai Airways’ CEO announced the merger in early 2023.

Most of Thai Smile’s aircraft have been repainted and returned to Thai Airways’ fleet, with all remaining merger business, including transferring any remaining aircraft to Thai Airways, expected to be finalised by January 31, 2024.

The merger has allowed Thai Airways to resume domestic operations across nine city pairs, a move it made away from following the launch of Thai Smile.
