Start your tour at Praza da Porta do Sol, the central square in Vigo with the sculpture of O Sereo marking the city’s kilometre zero and surrounded by streets leading into the historic quarter.

From the square, walk along Calle Real uphill past stately houses including the Casa de Arines or Ceta from the 15th century with its stone facade now serving as the headquarters of the Camões Institute.

Continue to Praza da Princesa, a small square nearby with surrounding buildings from earlier periods.

Proceed downhill to O Berbés square, the area once central to the fishing neighbourhood with stone houses and arcades connected to the port.

Move through the narrow streets of the Casco Vello, the old town where lanes feature traditional Galician architecture and lead towards the waterfront.

Head to Rúa das Ostras, known as Oyster Street, the short lane where vendors open fresh oysters for immediate consumption reflecting the city’s seafood tradition.

The route stays within the compact old town and fishing district with its stone-paved paths and covers about two kilometres in total with a duration of around one hour at a moderate pace.

End at the Mercado da Pedra near the port, the covered market building from the 19th century where stalls sell fish, seafood and local produce close to the water’s edge.
