A fire destroyed the Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham resort in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic on 20 June 2026 that led to the evacuation of 1,690 tourists. One Italian tourist died and several others received medical assistance. Authorities relocated guests to other hotels in Punta Cana and Bayahibe.

The resort operated at 84 pc occupancy when the blaze took place. Strong winds and thatched roofing contributed to rapid spread. The nearby Viva Dominicus Palace remained unaffected and continued operations.
