Barry Allen, founder of the World Safety Index, has built an AI-powered platform providing live safety scores for 187 countries and 828 cities. The platform is updated daily and features over 80 AI safety tools, real-time alerts and AI trip briefings. Allen, a carpenter from Dublin, was inspired to build the application after travelling to a foreign country where he struggled to find clear information regarding local scams, high-risk areas and emergency contacts.

Realising that major risk assessment tools cost tens of thousands of euros annually and primarily serve enterprise companies, Allen built an AI-powered platform tailored for everyday travellers, contractors, startup sales representatives and NGO workers. The platform covers 187 countries and 658 cities, features over 80 AI safety tools, updates daily, and operates at a fraction of the cost of legacy corporate risk compliance software.

The trade angle offers duty-of-care cover at roughly 5pc of International SOS pricing, deployable in 48 hours, so agents and travel management companies can sell it to mid-size clients. The platform has been put forward for European and Irish Invention of the Year and is exhibiting at Web Summit Lisbon from 9 to 12 November.
