The US Embassy has confirmed that applicants for visas must disclose all social media accounts used in the past five years.

Failure to provide this information could lead to visa rejections and affect future eligibility.

Simon Harris expressed concerns over the new regulations, stating they have caused worry among young Irish people wishing to travel to the United States.

Mr Harris shared: “This decision has understandably caused deep concern, confusion and apprehension for young Irish people who may wish to travel to the United States. Our relationship with the United States is deep and enduring. I am urging my officials to engage directly with the US embassy here in Dublin” to seek clarity for students planning to travel soon. If in doubt, just wipe it. Delete any jokes about America from phones.”
