Hospitality Ulster has warned the Stormnot Finance Minister that ‘no action is off the table’ amid a escalating row over business rates revaluations, with some venues facing hikes up to 135pc.
Pubs and hotels are protesting the assessments, claiming they threaten viability in an already challenged industry.
A lobby group symbolically introduced a £17.20 ‘John O’Dowd pint’ to highlight the issue. There have been calls for intervention as the sector seeks alternative valuation methods to support recovery.
