Lisbon is preparing for what promises to be its most ambitious gathering yet at the BTL – Better Tourism Lisbon Travel Market 2026.
Scheduled to run from 25 February to 1 March, this annual extravaganza at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa in the Parque das Nações district is recognised as Portugal’s foremost event for showcasing travel opportunities, both domestic and international.
Organised by the AIP Foundation since its inception in 1989, the fair has evolved into a vital hub for professionals and enthusiasts alike, drawing together more than 1,500 exhibitors from across the globe to highlight diverse destinations, cultural experiences, and innovative services in the sector.
Preparations are in full swing, with organisers touting this as the biggest edition ever, featuring over 600 events packed into five dynamic days, including conferences, workshops, cultural presentations, and interactive tastings that cater to every facet of tourism.
Themed areas such as BTL Cultural, BTL Employment, BTL Village, BTL Religious, BTL Weddings, BTL Wellness, BTL Meeting Industry, BTL Lab, BTL Enoturismo, and BTL LGBTQI+ will offer specialised insights, while a Kids Route ensures family-friendly activities for younger visitors during public hours.
Networking opportunities abound for industry insiders, with the first two days reserved exclusively for professionals from 10:00 to 19:00, before opening to the general public on 27 February with extended evening access until 23:00. The weekend promises a bustling atmosphere, with hours from 12:00 to 23:00 on 28 February and until 20:00 on 1 March, though entry is restricted for those under 16 during professional slots to maintain a focused environment. Excitement is further heightened by the Passaporte BTL contest, where participants can win from a pool of 4,000 prizes, including trips, hotel stays, and vouchers, adding an element of thrill to the exploration of exhibits.
Ticket prices remain accessible to encourage wide participation, with individual entry at €8 for adults, while discounted packs offer three tickets for €20 or four for €26, and reduced rates apply for children aged 11 to 15. Professionals can secure specialised passes, starting from €114 for exhibitors, ensuring value for those seeking business connections amid the latest trends in sustainable travel, digital innovation, and global recovery post-pandemic.
Expectations are high for attendance surpassing 70,000 visitors, building on previous years’ success in fostering deals and inspiring travellers to discover new horizons. As Lisbon’s iconic venue readies its halls, the fair stands poised to reinforce Portugal’s position as a top European destination, blending tradition with forward-thinking tourism strategies that promise economic boosts and cultural exchanges for all involved.
