Start your tour at Parque de San Telmo in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria where visitors can observe the historic bandstand and surrounding trees before proceeding along Calle Triana. This pedestrian street features shops and buildings in a range of architectural styles that reflect the development of the city over centuries. Continue south into the Vegueta district where the route enters the oldest part of the settlement founded in the late 15th century.
From there you reach Plaza de Santa Ana which opens to the Catedral de Santa Ana with its stone facade and interior spaces that contain examples of religious art. Entry to the cathedral costs around €4. From the square the path leads past the Casas Consistoriales and along narrow streets lined with traditional Canarian houses that display wooden balconies. A short distance away stands the Casa de Colón where exhibits detail the stop made by Christopher Columbus on his voyages with admission at approximately €5.
The tour proceeds to the nearby Museo Canario which holds collections related to the indigenous history of the Canary Islands for an entry fee of about €6. From there the route returns through Vegueta streets to the Mercado de Vegueta where local produce and goods are available for purchase. After exploration of the market area walkers can head north towards Playa de las Canteras. This urban beach stretches for more than three kilometres along the coast and offers a promenade for continued walking with views of the Atlantic. The full circuit covers a distance of around three kilometres and takes visitors past key sites in the historic centre and to the seafront in a direct sequence of streets and squares.
