Egis has appointed Mike Birch as transportation director for England and Ireland. Mike joins the global firm with over 35 years of experience in public and private sector transport projects. He previously served as Mass Transit Director at West Yorkshire Combined Authority where he oversaw a £3bn tram network programme.

Mike held senior roles at Jacobs and Ramboll and worked on major infrastructure projects including HS2 and Crossrail. In his new position he will lead growth of Egis transport services across the islands with focus on integration of capabilities and client relationships. The move supports Egis plans to expand its presence in light rail heavy rail highways and active travel.

The appointment aligns with market shifts toward locally led transport programmes and partnership delivery models. Egis employs 23,500 people across more than 70 countries.
