Titanic Belfast is offering residents of the north free admission on Sunday, January 8 to celebrate its selection as the tourist attraction winner at the World Travel Awards.
Tickets will be available from the Titanic Belfast website in two separate releases – at 12 noon on Wednesday (Jan 4) and Thursday (Jan 5). Prospective visitors need to book online here using the promo code TBTHANKSNI.
The £90/€106m centre tells the story of the Titanic and the shipyard, from her conception by White Star Line designers, through her construction and launch, maiden voyage andsinking in 1912.
Last year the tender, SS Nomadic was opened next to the site. Titanic is Ireland’s ninth most popular visitor attraction with 620,000 visitors per annum.
Chief executive of Titanic Belfast, Tim Husbands, said: “we recognise that the people got behind us in our bid to become ‘King of the World’, from the public, industry partners, well-known personalities, politicians, sports stars and businesses. It was because of them and the hard work of our staff that we were voted on par with previous winners such as the Taj Mahal, Las Vegas Strip and the Pyramids of Egypt. To say thank you for your support in 2016 and to show our appreciation, we are throwing our doors open for locals on January 8 to encourage those who have or haven’t visited to come down and enjoy the world-class experience on their doorstep.”
