Thailand releases new visitor app for Immigration Management

Thailand has introduced a new visitor app, the Thailand Immigration Management app to modernise and speed up the entry process.

It replaces paper form: and digitises the mandatory Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) so vsitors can submit details before they land. The app uses built-in readers to automatically extract your passport details. For future trips, you only need to update your flight number and travel dates. Visitors can register groups of up to 10 people at once, making family or group travel significantly faster. Information syncs directly with border control, meaning immigration officers can verify the file the moment they scan the physical passport, no QR codes required.

The app is actively in its national pilot phase. Passengers can voluntarily download it on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store to complete the arrival card. The system is scheduled for its full mandatory transition by October 1, 2026, replacing older standalone digital registration methods entirely.

The Immigration Bureau plans to add features like 90-day reporting, visa extension appointments, and a 24-hour direct link to the Tourist Police.

Those planning a trip can also download these popular platforms used for daily life in the country.

  • TAGTHAi: An official all-in-one tourism app supported by the government. It allows you to purchase city passes, track online VAT tax refunds, and look up emergency local assistance.
  • Grab & Bolt: The two primary ride-hailing and food delivery applications. It is highly recommended to download both to compare prices for the exact same route.
  • LINE: The definitive messaging app in Thailand. Local restaurants, hotels, tour guides, and businesses use LINE instead of WhatsApp for communication and customer service.
  • 12Go: The best tool for researching and booking domestic trains, inter-city buses, and regional ferries.
