Booking Holdings partners with Google Maps on enhanced AI Hotel Search and Agentic Booking to existing platform

  • Google has integrated AI hotel search into Maps with spatial context and real pricing
  • The company has begun limited agentic hotel booking testing for US users this week
  • Travellers can query Ask Maps for hotel recommendations with specific criteria
  • Booking Holdings has partnered with Google as one of the first test participants

Google Maps has been bringing spatial context to AI hotel search, integrating personal itinerary data into a platform already built around location, transit, routes and nearby businesses. The company has allowed travellers to chat with Ask Maps for hotel recommendations based on specific feels or proximity to venues, with the system returning actual pricing and availability rather than ranges or estimates. Google has moved agentic hotel booking from product promise to limited testing in the United States this week.

Google has begun testing agentic hotel booking for a small percentage of US users, a spokesperson confirmed to Skift. The feature connects to plans the company made last November for an upcoming agentic booking tool for flights and hotels. A traveller can now ask for a hotel with an artsy vibe within walking distance from a gym and restaurants for a conference in downtown Miami, and the system processes the request against real-time inventory. The company has not provided additional details about the scope of the test or the timeline for wider release.

Booking Holdings CEO Glenn Fogel referenced the Google tests during an earnings call this week while discussing partnerships with AI platforms. Google has been working with Booking Holdings on the agentic booking feature, with Fogel confirming that Booking Holdings is one of the first partners to participate. Google has remained tight-lipped about the full functionality of the tool, stating only that more information would come soon. The limited test represents a step toward fully automated travel booking through conversational AI interfaces.
