Hilton has set a date of May 2027 to officially debut its DoubleTree by Hilton brand in Ireland by rebranding the existing 156-room Pillo Hotel Ashbourne. The property, owned by proprietor Richard McDermott, will open as DoubleTree by Hilton Ashbourne in early 2027 following a comprehensive renovation. The move builds on the group’s existing portfolio of eight hotels across six brands and is expected to strengthen mid-scale hospitality options north of Dublin.
The conversion of the 156-room Pillo Hotel Ashbourne will involve upgrades targeting all guest rooms, public spaces, restaurants, and bars. The property is located in County Meath, roughly a 25-minute drive from Dublin Airport. This signing is part of a broader development push by Hilton across the island of Ireland, which is set to generate more than 150 jobs and bring its local workforce to nearly 1,000 employees.
Hilton has introduced its extended-stay brand to Europe via a 290-suite Home2 Suites by Hilton Dublin City Centre property near O’Connell Street. A 103-room hotel on South Terrace in Cork is slated to debut in 2027, marking Hilton’s first entry into Cork. The company is expanding in Ireland via the recent signings of DoubleTree by Hilton Belfast City Ten Square and DoubleTree by Hilton Derry, alongside the upcoming international debut of the wellness-focused brand Tempo by Hilton Belfast City Centre.
