The 33rd edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026 in Dubai centered on the theme “Travel 2040: Driving New Frontiers Through Innovation and Technology,” highlighting that Dubai welcomed approximately 7m international overnight visitors and booked 21m hotel room nights in the first eight months of the year.

ATM Travel Tech and Artificial Intelligence

  • Full Debut of ATM Travel Tech: The dedicated co-located tech event featured over 180 exhibitors from 30 countries across two halls, showcasing an 850-square-meter Tech & Innovation Hub.
  • AI Beyond Chatbots: Keynote presentations and panels—led by figures like Dr. Marwan Alzarouni, CEO of AI at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism—emphasized that artificial intelligence is shifting from basic customer service bots to restructuring core governance, big data, and connectivity systems.

Tourism Resilience and Coordinated Policy

  • Ministerial Debates: High-level discussions involving regional and international leaders (including UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri) focused on building a crisis-resilient tourism ecosystem.
  • Overcoming Regional Headwinds: Sessions addressed how the industry has adapted to recent disruptions through robust data-led decision-making, faster crisis communications, and harmonized public-private sector frameworks.

The UAE Grand Tour Initiative

  • Multi-Emirate Itineraries: The UAE officially unveiled the “UAE Grand Tour” concept, introducing seven multi-emirate itineraries designed to present the country as a unified destination rather than a collection of separate stops.
  • Spreading Regional Growth: Data presented at the event showed secondary emirates capturing substantial travel interest, benefiting from rising GCC flight bookings and staycation demand.

Aviation and Commercial Partnerships

  • Carrier Expansion: Major national carriers including Emirates and Etihad engaged in extensive deal-making on the show floor.
  • Strategic MoUs: Emirates marked the opening by signing multiple memoranda of understanding with tourism and technology authorities across Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Indian Ocean to rebuild and expand long-haul connectivity.

Luxury and Business Events (MICE) Growth

  • IBTM @ ATM: The expanded business events segment successfully bridged global corporate and association planners with the Middle East’s booming meetings and mega-events pipeline.
  • Ultra-Luxury Focus: The ATM Ultra Luxury Lounge catered specifically to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth travelers, pairing them with bespoke operators in private aviation, yachting, and high-end hospitality.
