The Great Southern Killarney has marked its new era with The Good Times Return a special evening celebrating its 170-year legacy. The occasion also marked the hotel’s five-star achievement and new brand positioning Splendour Untamed inspired by Kerry’s natural beauty. The celebration took place on 1 October 2026.
Since opening in 1854 the hotel has hosted generations of visitors. The celebration began with a Champagne and canapé reception including a toast at 18:54 in tribute to the year the hotel first opened followed by dinner at Arbour. Guests enjoyed a menu inspired by Kerry showcasing local produce and seasonal flavours.
The occasion introduced guests to the hotel’s new brand positioning Splendour Untamed inspired by the contrast between the grandeur of the historic hotel and Killarney’s natural beauty. The following morning yoga and falconry experiences highlighted an expanding guest offering spanning wellness nature dining and entertainment. Nightly rates start from €375.
