French travellers heading away for the Toussaint school holidays face higher prices than a year earlier. According to official Insee figures published on 18 October air fares are up 10pc, train tickets up 4.6pc and accommodation up 4.9pc compared with September 2025. Diesel fuel has risen by more than 44pc.
On a notional €600 trip the extra cost could reach around €70 driven largely by fuel. Seasonal falls in September prices for transport and lodging reflected the end of summer rather than any lasting reduction. Families are being advised to compare dates and routes carefully when booking.
Rising fuel prices, lower household purchasing power and general inflation have forced French families to adjust travel plans and trim expenses during the All Saints holiday. Higher fuel and transport costs continue to influence domestic and regional travel choices. Many families are opting to stay with relatives, use family-owned second homes or choose shorter local excursions.
