  • The US will require inbound air passengers to declare no DRC travel from 3 November 2026.
  • The declaration covers the previous 21 days matching Ebola incubation.
  • The rule applies to all international flights to the US.
  • The DRC outbreak has nearly 10,000 confirmed cases and over 4,600 deaths.
  • The CDC assesses public health risk as low.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will require all inbound air passengers from 3 November 2026 to declare they have not been in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the previous 21 days. The measure strengthens existing restrictions linked to the ongoing Ebola outbreak. The rule applies to every passenger on every international flight heading to the US regardless of nationality or origin airport.

Passengers must complete either a digital or paper health attestation before boarding. The form acts as a legal confirmation that the flyer has not been in the DRC within the 21 days prior to departure. The mandate begins at 11:59pm EST on 3 November 2026 and includes travellers transiting through a US airport to reach another destination.

The tightened restrictions respond to a major outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola centred in the DRC. As of late October 2026 the outbreak has escalated into the second-largest Ebola event in recorded history with nearly 10,000 confirmed cases and over 4,600 global deaths. The CDC continues to assess the overall public health risk as low.
