ELEVEN days to go: Ryanair bag drop deadline moves forward to SIXTY minutes before departure

  • Ryanair bag drop closes 60 minutes before departure from 10 November 2026.
  • The previous closure time was 40 minutes.
  • The change affects the 20pc of passengers who check in a bag.
  • Passengers who check in online without a bag are unaffected.
  • The airline aims to reduce missed flights due to security queues.

Ryanair has reminded passengers that from 10 November 2026 airport bag drop services at all Ryanair airports will close 60 minutes before scheduled departure instead of the current 40 minutes. Passengers using airport bag drop should ensure they have checked their bags at least 60 minutes before departure. The change was first revealed in April.

The airline noted the change will give the 20pc of passengers who check in a bag more time to clear security and passport control and reach the departure gate before boarding begins. It will also help reduce the small number of passengers who miss flights due to delays at security or passport control. The remaining 80pc of passengers who do not check in bags are unaffected by the small 20-minute change and will continue to check in online before travelling to the airport.

Passengers who check in online and do not check in a bag proceed directly through security to the departure gate. The airline reminded passengers using airport bag drop to arrive in good time and ensure they have checked in and dropped their bags before the closure time. The change applies at all Ryanair airports.

Dara Brady shared “From Tues, 10 Nov, bag drop services at all Ryanair airports will close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, instead of the current 40 minutes. This small change will give the 20% of Ryanair passengers who check in a bag, more time to clear airport security and passport control queues and get to their departure gate before boarding begins.”
