- The tool is built using Cape Town Tourism’s member database
- Phase 1 launches in January 2027
Cape Town Tourism has revealed the upcoming launch of its free-to-use AI-powered trip planner. Unveiled by Chief Marketing Officer Briony Brookes at an event in London, the software is designed to let travel agents and tourists curate personalised, hyper-local itineraries. Users input travel dates, group size and preferred travel style to receive a bespoke itinerary.
The tool is built using Cape Town Tourism’s member database, providing local insights and authentic suggestions including lesser-known gems, local restaurants and specific excursions. The initial version of the free trip planner will go live on the official Cape Town Tourism website in January 2027.
A broader update scheduled for summer 2027 will expand the system’s capabilities, enabling users to book flights and accommodations directly through the tool. The initiative follows the establishment of Cape Town’s AI in Tourism Hub to promote ethical, innovative and practical digital travel solutions.
Briony Brookes shared “The custom software is designed to let both travel agents and tourists automatically curate personalized, hyper-local itineraries.”
