Security queues at Dublin airport were a little longer than normal this morning after a week of hoax bomb alerts, although new bomb hoax threats have been reported so far this morning (Saturday, 7 November 2026).
European aviation authorities remain on high alert following a coordinated wave of false bomb threats that disrupted dozens of flights across the continent earlier this week.
- Friday, 6 November: At least 16 additional flights across Europe, including services connected to Prague, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Rome, and France, were targeted by fresh hoax alerts. A Wizz Air flight from Prague to Rome was diverted to Venice, while Hungarian fighter jets escorted three civilian airliners through Hungarian airspace. Threats also expanded to media organisations, forcing the evacuation of RTÉ in Dublin.
- Thursday, 5 November: More than two dozen flights were affected across Europe, including an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome (EI402) that diverted to Évreux air base in northern France under fighter jet escort.
All alerts investigated so far have been confirmed as malicious hoaxes with no explosives found. Irish authorities, including An Garda Síochána and the Defence Forces, are working alongside European counterparts to investigate what Ireland has described as a likely coordinated campaign of disruption.
Passengers travelling today are advised to check their airline’s app or website directly for real-time flight updates before heading to the airport
