Sudan Airways has resumed scheduled commercial flights with its only aircraft, an A320-200, after it was temporarily grounded pending repairs delayed by a shortage of spare parts in Sudan. The airline reported on social media that the technical maintenance work had been successfully completed. ADS-B data confirmed the company-owned 19.8-year-old A320, ST-MKW, resumed services from Port Sudan International to Cairo International on 3 November 2026 after it had been parked since 30 October.

The airline operates between Khartoum and Port Sudan domestically, and to Cairo, Riyadh and Jeddah International regionally. The airline resumed operations from Khartoum in May 2026, operating its first pilgrimage charter in nine years. The return came two weeks after the Sudanese capital and airport were targeted in a drone attack.

Khartoum airport had been closed in 2023 after aircraft parked there were destroyed during militia attacks and reopened in October 2025. Sudan Airways has since been working to rebuild its operations. In February 2026, the airline reported it expected to receive three new aircraft as part of a government-backed plan to rehabilitate the country’s transport sector.

Sudan Airways shared “The technical maintenance work has been successfully completed, allowing the national carrier to take a new step towards resuming its flights.”
