  • Naples Capodichino Airport will close for the entire month of November 2026.
  • The closure is for runway and taxiway rehabilitation costing around €250m.
  • Airlines including Ryanair and easyJet will suspend services.
  • Some airlines are redirecting flights to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport.
  • A shuttle bus operates between Naples Central and Salerno Airport.

Hotel operators report a sharp fall in bookings as Naples Capodichino Airport will close for the entire month of November 2026 for full rehabilitation of its main runway and connected taxiways.

Occupancy rates for the month dropped well below expectations and some estimates pointing to a 40 per cent decline. Industry groups have called for better communication and support measures to limit the impact on the city’s tourism sector ahead of the Christmas period

The €30m runway refurbishment is part of a broader €250m masterplan including a second terminal for non-Schengen flights. The closure is scheduled during the region’s lowest air traffic period to minimise disruption with all commercial arrivals and departures suspended.

Airlines including easyJet, ITA Airways, Vueling, Iberia, Eurowings and Transavia are temporarily shifting select flight paths to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport located roughly an hour south of Naples. Lufthansa Group, Austrian Airlines and Swiss are choosing to cancel direct Naples services or reroute passengers through Rome with a 70-minute high-speed train connection. Ryanair and Wizz Air have altered or suspended schedules.

GESAC has launched dedicated ground transport links including a shuttle bus between Naples Piazza Garibaldi and Salerno Airport running eight times daily in each direction at €12 per person. Travellers can also take a regional train from Naples Central to Salerno city centre for approximately €5 each way. Impacted passengers are advised to check their booking portals for rebooking or refund options.
