Ryanair could hit 137m passenger mark this year as monthly figures rises

Ryanair could regain the top spot from the Lufthansa Group as Europe’s biggest carrier as its latest traffic figures showed a 6pc rise in passenger numbers.
Figures for March showed a 6pc jump in traffic to 9.4m passengers. Load factors are up too – at 95pc – compared to an overall figure of 94pc for 2017. If that trend continues, its overall traffic for the year would climb from 129m passengers to just under 137m.

Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kenny Jacobs, said the rises were “on the back of lower fares”. The airline is launching new routes this year to the Ukraine, as well as Turkey and Cyprus.
While Lufthansa took top spot last year, that’s based on its entire group’s performance, with Ryanair remaining Europe’s biggest single carrier. Willie Walsh’s IAG was behind Ryanair in third place.
