Turkish Airlines has disclosed plans to initiate flights to Melbourne, Australia, with the operation set to commence in 2024.

The Istanbul-Melbourne route is expected to include a stopover in Singapore.

The Australian government has given the carrier permission to run up to 21 weekly flights to the country, an increase from the previously-allowed seven flights per week. This limit is set to increase to 28 flights per week from mid-2024, and 35 from mid-2025.

Melbourne and Sydney were specified as future destinations at Turkish Airline’s Roadshow event, in addition to cities such as Glasgow, Newcastle, Detroit, Denver, and Rio de Janeiro.
