Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has provided further details on its upcoming newbuilds, part of an eight-ship order from the Fincantieri shipyard scheduled for delivery between 2030 and 2036.
The new vessels for Norwegian Cruise Line will be larger than initially announced, with each approximately 225,000 tons and a capacity for around 5,100 guests, making them 38pc larger than the company’s current largest vessel, the Norwegian Encore.
These new ships will be among the largest in the world in terms of tonnage, comparable to Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class ships ranging from 220,000 to 231,000 tons.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s orderbook includes four Prima-class ships, with the Norwegian Aqua set to enter service in 2025 and future vessels increasing in size and capacity, including two methanol-ready Prima ships scheduled for delivery in 2027 and 2028.
