Eoghan Corry has officially opened the refurbished events venue – Upstairs at The Silken in the three star Silken Thomas hotel in Kildare town.

The property includes an award-winning restaurant, a Squires Bar that offers sports and cocktails, and a newly developed function area suitable for various events.

Managed by the Flanagan family for over 50 years, the hotel is well-connected by a nationwide bus and train commuter system, as well as motorway access, ensuring convenience for guests.

Silken Thomas is an award-winning hospitality destination located in the heart of Kildare Town, just minutes from the Kildare Village Shopping Outlet and the Irish National Stud.

The hotel is situated on the historic site of Kildare Castle, with remnants still visible, and features four beautifully renovated historical houses on the grounds.

Speaking at the event Eoghan Corry says: “the map of Kildare shows what an important place it once was, twelve roads converge on Kildare, more than medieval Dublin or ancient Armagh. The glory days of Kildare were probably over before the end of the Viking age, before the Normans arrived, and travel writers of the 1600s wrote about it living on the tail of past glory. This investment by Brian and Emer Flanagan is an amazing act of faith in Kildare. To paraphrase an American presidential candidate whose name escapes me: let’s make Kildare great again.”
