The Panama Canal’s 2024-25 cruise season has begun with the northbound transit of the Brilliance of the Seas, marking the start of over 225 expected transits throughout the season.
Market analysts anticipate an increase in cruise ship transits due to ongoing demand for travel experiences, highlighting the canal as an attractive fast and safe route for the cruise industry.
Major cruise lines such as Norwegian, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean will operate full and partial transits, alongside smaller ships like Le Bellot and National Geographic Quest, with several vessels making inaugural transits through the canal.
This fiscal year is expected to see 54 Neopanamax passenger ships transit the canal, including nine of the largest ever, with a season running from October to May that previously saw 210 Panamax and 41 Neopanamax transits.
