Aer Lingus has launched a new seasonal route from Cork Airport to Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport.
The inaugural flight, EI818, departed Cork at 12:30 PM, connecting Irish travellers to the wine capital of France.
Passengers on the first flight enjoyed French delicacies, including mini croissants, showcasing the connection between the two cultures.
The route operates three times a week until September 13, 2025, with an attractive one-way fare starting at €59.99.
Social media celebrated the route’s appeal for those seeking to swap “Irish coffee for French wine.” Aer Lingus also shared the launch on its Instagram. This route, alongside a new Cork-Bilbao service, reflects Aer Lingus’ commitment to expanding leisure travel options from Cork, despite the airline’s decision to end its Cork-Amsterdam route due to competition.
This service replaces a previous Cork-Bordeaux route operated by Ryanair, which ceased in November 2024.
Tara Finn of Cork airport shared:“ Bordeaux is one of France’s most iconic cities. We are thrilled to offer direct access to Bordeaux city and wider Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. There is so much to see and do in this amazing city – including learning about the region’s world-famous wine production, wandering amongst the quaint boulevards and squares, or simply soaking in the essence of continental café culture.”

Reid Moody, Chief Strategy and Planning Officer at Aer Lingus, shared: ” Aer Lingus today launches a brand-new route from Cork to Bordeaux, offering another popular European destination for customers in the south of Ireland to explore. Following the success of our Cork to Bilbao route which took off last month, the addition of Bordeaux, renowned for its culture, world-class wines and rich history, is a popular destination for Irish travellers. As a gateway to the south of France, Bordeaux is the perfect addition to our summer schedule, promising unforgettable experiences for customers seeking a European adventure.”
