AirBaltic has commenced naming its Airbus A220-300 aircraft after cities in Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania.
A competition held in August 2024 allowed participants to select their ideal cities to commemorate the Baltic Way’s 35th anniversary. The airline’s aircraft YL-ABN is now named Riga, featuring the Latvian flag livery from a design competition revealed in February.
Tallinn has been designated for aircraft YL-CSJ with an Estonian flag, and Vilnius is assigned to YL-CSK boasting a Lithuanian design. The remaining A220-300 fleet will be named after cities based on the competition’s entries, announced in a random sequence.
Elina Prave shared, “We are grateful to everyone who participated in this contest and showed support for their favourite cities. By naming airBaltic aircraft after Baltic cities, we not only inspire travellers to explore these places but also promote their international recognition. We are proud to be a part of the region’s growth and strengthen its connectivity with the rest of the world.”
