Costa del Sol hotels achieved an occupancy rate of 92.15pc in August, supported by international travel demand, although forecasts for September and October are slightly lower.
Hotel group Aehcos, the Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol, anticipates September hotel occupancy to be 87.65pc, with October dropping to 74.13pc, and want greater focus on boosting national demand. Ryanair is to reduce its capacity by 16pc this winter compared to the previous year, translating to over one million fewer seats in Spain.
The airline’s actions will result in the closure of several regional airports including Santiago de Compostela, Vigo, and Tenerife Norte.
