Aroya completes Suez Canal repositioning transit despite Middle East security concerns

Aroya completed a Suez Canal transit with over 2,300 guests and 1,500 crew, marking its third crossing since entering service in late 2024.

The transit supports the Suez Canal Authority’s efforts to enhance its role as a hub for maritime tourism, offering incentives to cruise ships. After its Eastern Mediterranean season, Aroya embarked on an eight-night repositioning cruise from Istanbul to Jeddah, visiting Turkey and Egypt.

The ship will offer Red Sea itineraries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jabal Al-Sabaya, with another Suez Canal crossing planned for 2026. Since 2021, 69 cruise ships have transited the Suez Canal, benefiting from the authority’s reductions and incentives.
