- Frankfurt Airport handled around 6.3m passengers in August 2026
- Passenger figures decreased by 0.3pc from the same month last year

Frankfurt airport handled 6,174,323 passengers in August 2026, up 1pc on August 2025 and down 10.5pc on pre-pandemic. Rolling annual was 61,951,087, similar to the twelve months to August 2025.
The figures for the first six months of 2026 were 28,929,140, down 18.4pc and down 31.9pc on pe=-pandemic. Both figures were affected by the Lufthansa pilots strike in April, when figures for the airport were down by 9.7pc. The monthly total represents the highest figure of 2026 for the airport. The two busiest days of the year took place in August with each exceeding 220,000 passengers.
Cargo volumes rose by 2.9pc to 179,400 tonnes. Aircraft movements fell by 4.6pc to 40,968 take-offs and landings. Accumulated maximum take-off weight declined by 1.6pc to approximately 2.6m tonnes.
Most Fraport international airports reported passenger growth. Ljubljana recorded the strongest increase rising 19.3pc to 222,231 passengers. Traffic grew by 5.1pc across the group’s 14 Greek airports, by 4.9pc at Lima and the two Brazilian airports and by 2.1pc at Burgas and Varna. Antalya was the main exception with traffic slipping 0.9pc to 5.9m passengers. Across all airports actively managed by Fraport, passenger numbers increased by 2.1pc to approximately 24.1m.
