Aer Lingus is highlighting its transatlantic network with the introduction of a fourth flight on the direct service from Dublin Airport to Pittsburgh International Airport, which commenced operations on 25 May 2026. The new route, operating four times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, re-establishes direct connectivity between Ireland and Western Pennsylvania and brings the airline’s North American network to a total of 24 routes. The service supports growing transatlantic demand and offers travellers easier access to the wider US Midwest region.
The route leverages the airline’s existing partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers and builds upon cultural and sporting ties between the two regions. Aer Lingus flew the NFL franchise to Dublin for a sold-out game at Croke Park in September 2025, and the Pitt Panthers are scheduled to face the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2027 Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin. Operating with a 184-seat Airbus A321neo LR, the service offers seamless onward connections via Dublin to major European destinations, including Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Geneva, Manchester and London Heathrow.
Passengers departing from Dublin benefit from US Pre-Clearance facilities, enabling them to clear customs and immigration before take-off and arrive in Pittsburgh as domestic travellers. The airline collaborated with partners including the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh International Airport and VisitPITTSBURGH to launch the service, which Reid Moody, Chief Strategy & Planning Officer at Aer Lingus, described as strengthening the Dublin Hub and supporting tourism, business and cultural links between Ireland and Pennsylvania.
